Rick Ness

May 23, 1946-Nov. 18, 2017

Richard Alfred Ness,

Sr., 71, of Minot, ND

passed away peacefully in

his home on Saturday

evening, November 18,

2017, after a fourteen-year

battle with cancer. Rick

was a man of faith and

found great comfort in

God and his Bible study

group throughout his

journey.

Rick was born on May

23, 1946 in Minot, ND to

Alfred and Inez (Sing)

Ness. Rick graduated from

Minot High School in

1964 where he played

football and wrestled on

the school wrestling team.

He then went on to obtain

a Bachelor’s degree in

Business and a minor in

Psychology from Minot

State University.

Rick worked for several

Minot area businesses.

This included Harley’s

Service Station and

Sweetheart Bakery. Rick

was a feeder truck driver

for UPS and he retired

from UPS after 23 years of

service. He was united in

marriage to Pamela Jensen

on January 5, 1996.

During his 71 years,

Rick enjoyed many hob-

bies and vacations. He

started playing handball

in his thirties and attend-

ed many tournaments

around the world. He en-

joyed playing handball

with his wife and chil-

dren. He made many

friends through the sport.

He always enjoyed being

active and lifting weights.

Rick held a special place

in his heart for the Minot

YMCA and the friends he

made there. Rick was

proud of his Harley Da-

vidson Motorcycle. He en-

joyed boating trips to the

lakes with his family. His

favorite sports team was

the Minnesota Vikings,

and he enjoyed watching

several football games

with his family. Rick

loved to make friends

with every person who

crossed his path and en-

joyed having long conver-

sations with everyone he

met.

Rick is survived by: his

loving wife, Pamela (Jen-

sen) Ness; and their son,

Ricky; sister, Bonnie

Sprinkle and her family;

his two daughters, Tam-

my and Keri; his sons,

Tim (Angie), Ryan (Katie)

and Derik (Jessica). His

smile and laughter live on

through his 15 grandchil-

dren; they were his pride

and joy.

He was preceded in

death by: his parents,

Inez and Alfred Ness, and

his brother, Roger Ness.

Visitation: There will be

a memorial visitation held

in Richard’s honor on

Monday, November 27,

2017 from 3-6 pm with a

service to follow at 6:00

pm at Thompson-Larson

Funeral Home in Minot,

ND.

In lieu of flowers, Rick

has requested that dona-

tions be made to the

Minot YMCA in his

memory.
