Cynthia Ann “Cindy”
Borud, 80, Minot, former-
ly of Ray, died Tuesday,
October 31, 2017 in a
Minot Hospital.
Cindy was born June 9,
1937 in Williston, North
Dakota, the daughter of
Richard and Anna
(Jorstad) Gronseth. She
was raised and educated
in Ray and graduated
from Ray High School in
1955, where she was
elected the school’s first
Homecoming Queen. She
continued her education
in Omaha, Nebraska
studying telecommunica-
tions. She went to work
for the Federal
Government’s Department
of the Navy, specializing
in Missile technology. She
fondly spoke of the Cher-
ry Blossom Festival held
yearly in Washington D.C.
Cindy returned to North
Dakota and was employed
with Minot Federal Sav-
ings and Loan in Williston
and later Minot. She was
united in marriage to
Floyd Borud on No-
vember 8, 1958 at the Ray
Lutheran Church in Ray,
ND. They made their
home in Minot, where to-
gether they raised their
three children. Cindy was
employed as a bookkeeper
for Jerry’s Standard Ser-
vice Station and as an of-
fice clerk for the Division
of Motor Vehicles.
Cindy was a longtime
member of First Lutheran
Church and the American
Legion Auxiliary, both of
Minot. She enjoyed camp-
ing, crafting, fishing and
spending time with her
grandchildren and great
grandchildren. Her favor-
ite time of the year was
Christmas where she in-
sisted on having a real
Christmas tree every year.
Her loving family in-
cludes, husband of 58
years, Floyd of Minot,
children, Kirk (Annette)
Borud, Minot, Arlyn
Borud, Minot, Vicki (Mar-
ty) Liesener, Ray, ND;
grandchildren, Erin
Borud, Derek (Whitney)
Borud, Emily Borud, Col-
ton Borud, Alexius (Cody)
Knudson, Adrian (Jacob)
Odermann, Adam
Liesener, Alaury Liesener;
great grandchildren, Brin-
ley& McKenna Knudson;
Wyatt, Henry & Emersyn
Odermann.
Cindy was preceded in
death by her parents:
Richard and Anna Gron-
seth, and her sister, Vivi-
an Liesener Nowstrup.

7, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at First
Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Monday, No-
vember 6th from
3:00-6:00 p.m. at Thomas
