Minnie Nelson

March 28, 1910 – Oct. 22, 2017

ANTLER – Minnie

Marie Nelson, 107, Antler,

died Sunday, Oct. 22,

2017, at the Good Samari-

tan Society, Mohall.

Minnie was born on

March 28, 1910, to Gabriel

and Minnie Marie

(Gunderson) Feland. She

attended Sherman School

and helped out on the

farm with milking, har-

vest, gardening and loved

her beautiful flowers. At

the age of 16 years, she

went to Grand Forks to at-

tend Bible School

(Hillcrest Lutheran

Academy) for one year.

She had many fond

memories of those days

and also traveling with

the string band in which

she played her auto harp.

Minnie met Albert Peter

Nelson, from Minnesota,

who was here in the area

building roads. They

married on Nov. 10, 1931

and she even made her

own wedding cake. They

made their home on the

Feland Farmstead and Al-

bert later bought some

land and built a new

house for them to live in.

Later, Minnie’s mother

came to live with them

and she talked of the good

memories they made of

cooking, gardening and

picking raspberries to-

gether. They had no chil-

dren of their own but she

took care of several of her

nieces and nephews and

loved them like her own.

She was a charter member

of Bethel Lutheran

Brethren Church, rural

Antler, and taught Sunday

school for many years and

was active in the Willing

Workers and other min-

istries of Bethel. Her fa-

ther, Gabriel, was instru-

mental in starting this

church here in Antler in

1903. She also loved to

entertain guests and al-

ways invited people into

her home to have a meal

or stay the night. She

talked of having many

missionaries, pastors and

even professors from the

Synod stay at her house.

Her husband, Albert,

passed away on April 4,

1989, and she continued

to live on the farm until

2005. At that time she fell

and broke her arm and de-

cided to be a resident at

the Good Samaritan Home

in Mohall, on Oct. 20,

2005.
