Harry Thomas Hilsman

Jr., 76, Minot, formerly of

Davie, Florida, died Tues-

day, September 26, 2017

in a Minot Healthcare

Center.

Harry was born January

24, 1941 at Attleboro,

Massachusetts, the son of

Harry Sr. and Rhoda May

(Thurber) Hilsman. He

was raised during his

younger years in Attle-

boro, until the family

moved to Miami, FL. He

was educated there and

enlisted with the U.S.

Army, serving two tours

of duty with the 82nd Air-

borne Paratrooper Divi-

sion during the Vietnam

War. After receiving his

honorable discharge, he

served as an army re-

cruiter in Portsmouth,

NH.

Throughout the years,

he had lived in New York,

Virginia, Florida and most

recently Minot. He was

employed as an owner of

a restaurant in New York,

Dry Cleaning business in

New York, sold mattresses

and bedding in Florida

and as was an automotive

salesman in Florida.

Harry was united in

marriage to Elizabeth

“Betty” Welch on De-

cember 17, 2008. They

met at a dance in Davie,

Florida. They lived in

Davie, Florida, until mov-

ing to Minot in July of

2016 to live with Betty’s

son, Matthew,

daughter-in-law, Kelly

and family.

Harry was an avid base-

ball fan of the New York

Yankees and football fan

of the New England Patri-

ots. He enjoyed traveling,

reading, golfing, fishing

and dancing.

His loving family in-

cludes: wife, Betty; chil-

dren, Charles Hilsman,

New York, Christina Hils-

man, Del Rae, FL, Samuel

Hilsman, Wilmington,

NC, Raymond Couilliard,

Charlotte, NC and

Matthew and Kelly Daly,

Minot; 6 grandchildren, 7

step-grandchildren; sis-

ters, Caroline London,

Hollywood, FL and De-

borah Schnell, Ocala, FL;

several nieces and

nephews.

Harry was preceded in

death by: his parents, and

a grandson, Joshua Daly.

At his request, there
