Donna Mae Byrne (Schnell)

(Schnell), born on May

8th 1929 in Minot ND

passed away on Oct 18th

2017 after a brief battle

with cancer. She attended

Minot State University

majoring in Chemistry.

She was an avid horse-

woman spending her ear-

ly years on the Schnell

ranches in ND and later

on her parents’ popular

Shetland/Welsh pony

ranch in Hamel MN. She

married Charles Roberts

Byrne in 1948 and raised

their 6 children in Bloom-

ington MN.

Our dearly beloved

mother and grandmother

was preceded in death by

her husband of 27 years,

her sons Thomas and

Michael Byrne, her broth-

ers Marcus and Donovan

Schnell, and her parents

Markus and Hjordis (Ing-

berg) Schnell.

She is survived by: her

children; Mary Byrne of

Laveen AZ, Kathleen

Byrne-Barrantes of

Poulsbo WA, Patrick

Byrne of Port Angeles

WA, Robert Byrne of

North Bend WA, and 11

grandchildren; Roger

Galles, Cherina Dunkin,

Lisa Byrne, Nicole Byrne,

Jason Byrne, Casey Byrne,

Erin Paul, Ashley Byrne,

Nicholas Barrantes, Emily

Williams, and Bryson

Byrne. She also had 16

great-grandchildren and 1

great-great-grandchild.

Donna was incredibly

proud of her family. A

consummate caretaker,

she became an LPN in her

50s living in Maple Grove

MN and cared for several

others in-home until re-

tiring in her late 70s. She

spent the last 9 years of

her life in Laveen AZ.
