Keith W. Bird, 81,
Minot,ND, formerly of
Flaxton, ND, passed away
Wednesday, September
20, 2017, at Trinity
Homes in Minot, follow-
ing a battle with small cell
lung cancer.
Keith Wendell Bird was
born March 23, 1936, the
son of Arthur and Gudrun
(Grove) Bird, in Flaxton,
ND. He graduated from
Flaxton High School in
1954.
Keith enlisted in the
United States Navy in
June of 1954. He proudly
served his country during
the Korean and Vietnam
Wars and was awarded
the Good Conduct Medal,
the China Service Medal,
Vietnam Service Medal,
and the National Defense
Service Medal. At one
time, he was a
light-weight boxing cham-
pion on his Navy ship. He
was honorably discharged
in July of 1975, as a
Senior Chief Yeoman after
20 years of service to his
country.
During his time of en-
listment, he was awarded
a diploma from DeVry In-
stitute of Technology for
Home Entertainment Elec-
tronics Systems. He
repaired televisions and
radios and built an elec-
tric organ from scratch.
After that, he retired, leav-
ing Pensacola, FL, and
moved back to North
Dakota. He lived in the
Crosby, Columbus and the
Mohall areas before mov-
ing to Minot in 1991.
Keith married Sharen C.
(Voeller) Iverson October
18, 1996, in Minot. They
made their home in
Minot.
He was a member of
Minot American Legion
Post #26, and a former
member of the Eagles
Aerie.
He enjoyed golfing,
fishing, hunting, reading,
and putting puzzles to-
gether. He was a star pool
player and loved playing
Bridge and Pinochle. He
also enjoyed sitting out-
side watching his
grandchildren play in the
yard and visiting.
His lovingfamily in-
cludes: wife of 20 years,

Jespersen, Burlington,
ND, Kevin (Jessie) Puring-ton, Lafayette, LA, Jenny

blings, Leora (Darven)

Howard (Shirley) Bird,
Sartell, MN, Stanley Bird,
Sutherlin, OR, Carol (Ber-
nard) Wittman, Bowbells,
ND, and Diane (Patrick)
Carpentier, Washburn,
ND; sisters-in-law, Mar-
gery Bird, Broomfield,
CO, and Colleen Durward,
Bowbells, ND; and many
nieces, nephews and
cousins also survive.
Keith was preceded in
death by his parents;
brothers, Ronald, Lloyd
and David Bird; sister,
Marion Kohler;
brother-in-law, Bob
Kohler; step-grandchild,
Tanner Jespersen; one
niece; and four nephews.
Memorial Service:
Thursday, September 28,
2017,at 1:00 p.m. at Our
Redeemer’s Lutheran-
Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset
Memorial Gardens, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: There will
be no reviewal, but
friends may sign the re-
gister book onThursday
from one hour prior to the
service at the church.
