Marilyn Yvonne Anderson
Jan.6,1932- August 14,2017
Marilyn Yvonne Ander-
son, 85, Minot died on
Monday, August 14, 2017
in her home.
Marilyn was born on
January 6, 1932 in Minot
to Manuel and Elsie Dahl.
She was raised and edu-
cated in Minot, graduated
from Minot High School
in 1950 and from North
Dakota State University
with a degree in Home
Economics in 1954. She
was very proud to have
been a member of the
Queen’s Court at MHS.
Marilyn married Robert
W. Anderson on De-
cember 28, 1954 at Vin-
cent United Methodist
Church in Minot. They
made their home in the
Fargo area while Bob fin-
ished his degree in Archi-
tecture. Following his gra-
duation they returned to
Minot where she was a
fulltime wife, mother of
four children and
homemaker. Bob was a
Minot Architect for many
years and was a founder
of the Anderson, Wade
and Whitty PC Firm. After
all of her children were in
school she returned to the
classroom as a substitute
teacher, primarily in
Home Economics, in the
Minot Public School Sys-
tem. Bob died on July 22,
2001. Marilyn had con-
tinued to reside in Minot.
Marilyn was a member
of First Lutheran Church,
PEO Chapter AL, Kappa
Kappa Gamma at NDSU
and the Home Economics
Teachers Association.
Marilyn enjoyed baking,
crafts, gardening and fam-
ily get-togethers. She
created beautiful weav-
ings on a large loom and
received numerous
awards at the North Dako-
ta State Fair for her woven
wall hangings. Marilyn
was invited to model her
traditional Norwegian
Bunad (dress) and demon-
strated weaving on her
large floor loom at the
Norsk Hostfest. She also
supervised the Scandina-
vian Kitchens at the Host-
fest for a time. Another
passion for Marilyn was
studying her numerous
cookbooks. She was espe-
cially proud of her crea-
tion “Prairie Rhubarb
Twist Pie”. This recipe
earned her special recog-
nition at the North Dakota
State Fair and a trip to a
national competition in
Nashville, TN. Her
friends and family would
always look forward to
testing her new recipes
and creations.
She also enjoyed creat-
ing floral gardens for her
family and friends to en-
joy during many backyard
barbecues. We all have
many fond memories of
our times together. She
will be dearly missed.
