David Lee Rocha, 37,

Minot, passed away

Thursday, August 17,

2017, from injuries sus-

tained in an automobile

accident just north of

Makoti, ND.

David was born on Oc-

tober 19, 1979, in Port La-

vaca, TX, the son of El-

izabeth and Guadalupe

Heysquierdo. He was

raised in Port Lavaca,

where he graduated from

Calhoun High School in

1997. While in High

School David loved run-

ning track and was known

for his fluorescent track

shoes, which he main-

tained were always the

brightest of them all.

David entered the Unit-

ed States Army on June

10, 1998. He was sta-

tioned in Hawaii and

served one tour of duty in

Afghanistan and Iraq. He

loved the military and

serving his country as

well as all of his brothers

in arms. It was that

camaraderie that led him

to work in the oilfields

here in ND. David was

Honorably Discharged on

March 14, 2010, and was

a proud veteran.

David was united in

marriage to Denise Stadel

on December 28, 2010.

The couple made their

home in Minot, where

they raised their two sons,

Jayden and Jaxon. David

adored his two boys and

his daughter Katherine,

who he called “Kat.” He

also was a great

step-father to his wife’s

son Jordan, who he called

“buddy.”

He was a diehard Flori-

da Gator’s Football fan.

Survivors: wife, Den-

ise; sons, Jayden and Jax-

on, all of Minot; daughter,

Katherine Rocha, Lexing-

ton, SC; stepson, Jordan

Gibson, El Paso, TX;

parents, Guadalupe (Eliza-

beth) Heysquierdo, Port

Lavaca, TX; brothers, Ru-

ben Heysquierdo; sisters,

Petra (Gilbert) Rios and

April Ruiz, all of Port La-

vaca, TX, and numerous

nieces nephews and

cousins.

He was preceded in

death by grandparents

and his military brothers.

In lieu of flowers

memorials are preferred

to the family.

nesday, August 23, 2017,

at 11 a.m. at the

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home Chapel, Minot

Visitation: Tuesday,

August 22, 2017, from 4

p.m. until 7 p.m. with a

prayer service at 7 p.m. at

the Thompson-Larson

Funeral Home Chapel,

Minot.

Burial: Port Lavaca

Cemetery, Port Lavaca,

Texas.
