Roger J. Sattler
Nov. 15, 1948-July 7, 2017
Roger J. Sattler, 68,
Minot, ND, passed away
Friday, July 7, 2017, in a
Minot hospital.
Roger James Sattler was
born November 15, 1948,
the son of Anton and
Mary (Zainhofsky) Sattler,
in Rugby, ND. He was
raised and educated in
Rugby, and graduated
from Rugby High School
in 1967.
Roger enlisted in the
United States Army in
1967. He proudly served
his country, including a
year in Vietnam as an In-
fantryman with the Big
Red One. He was honor-
ably discharged in 1969.
Following his
discharge, Roger graduat-
ed from Dickinson State
University in 1973. He
then started a career in
broadcasting at KMOT. He
later changed careers and
became an
“Over-the-Road” truck
driver; finishing out his
working career with TMI
out of Dickinson.
Roger married Betsy
Neurohr on June 7, 1975
in Dodge, ND. He always
remembered that Tinker
settled his miners’ strike
at the Zap Coal Mine on
that date, and wanted the
priest to hurry up the
wedding so he could go
vote!
Roger was one of the
few men of his time who
took care of two young
children during the day
and worked evenings,
while Betsy worked days.
They all had naps in the
afternoon and went to
Hardee’s for lunch on Fri-
days. When the family
went to see the movie,
“Mr. Mom,” the kids an-
nounced loudly, “They
are watching the wrong
soap opera, that’s not the
one we watch, Dad!”
Roger enjoyed family
life, reading, latch hook-
ing, growing tomatoes,
sending weird text mes-
sages, photography and
making his famous
spaghetti and chili.

cludes:
