Leo Krueger

Leo Awald Krueger, 76,

Minot died on Thursday,

May 25, 2017 in his home

from leukemia, surround-

ed by his loving family.

Leo was born on August

15, 1940 in Minot to

Awald and Laura

(Schoenberg) Krueger. He

was reared in the

Benedict/Ruso area and

attended school in

Sawyer. Leo enlisted in

the U.S. Army on January

1, 1966. He was a heavy

vehicle driver with Com-

pany C of the Special

Transportation Unit and

received special citations

as a sharpshooter and

driver. He received his

honorable discharge on

January 6, 1968 and re-

turned to Minot.

Leo married Janice

Sayler on June 12, 1971 in

Garrison. They made their

home in Minot where he

was employed as a truck

driver for various com-

panies until joining John-

son Oil in Rolette in 1988

until ill health forced his

retirement in July of 2016.

Leo was a member of

St. Paul’s Lutheran

Church, Minot, and the

American Legion Post in

Benedict. He especially

enjoyed NoDak and NAS-

CAR racing, going for cof-

fee at Schatz’s and

mechanical work. Leo was

known for saying: “What’s

the difference?” which

was his favorite motto.

Leo’s loving family in-

cludes: his wife of 45

years Janice; daughters:

Becky (David) Peterson

and Bobbie (Lance) Klabo

all of Minot; grandchil-

dren: Jerrod and Justin

Peterson and Emma and

Ellie Klabo; siblings: La-

Vonne (LuVerne) Gullick

son of Benedict and Larry

Krueger of Garrison;

parents-in-law: John and

Joyce Sayler of Garrison;

in-laws: Vicki Vincent of

Minot, Gary (Shari) Sayler

of Kuna, Idaho, and Jerry

(Stacie) Sayler of Garrison

and several nieces,

nephews and cousins.

Leo was preceded in

death by: his parents and

infant son: Lee Krueger.

Funeral Service: Tues-

day, May 30, 2017 at

11:00 a.m. in St. Paul’s

Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Sunset

Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation: Monday,

May 29, 2017 from 4:00

p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in

Thomas Family Funeral

Home, Minot.
