Patricia “Patsy” Jost

Patricia Lou “Patsy”

Jost, 83, Burlington, form-

erly of Belfield, ND, died

Sunday, April 16, 2017 in

a Lake Havasu City, AZ

hospital.

Patricia was born on

March 1, 1934 in Belfield,

ND, the daughter of Jack

and Laura (Dahl) O’Brien.

She was raised and edu-

cated in the Belfield and

Fairfield area, graduating

from Belfield High School

in 1951. She taught coun-

try school one mile west

of Grassy Butte, ND and

the following year taught

1st-8th grade at Rhode

School approximately six

miles north of Grassy

Butte.

Patsy was united in

marriage to Arnold Jost on

August 22, 1953. They

made their first home on

the Jost Ranch. For the

next 10 years, Patsy and

Arnold lived in various

places including Grassy

Butte, Williston, Watford

City, Belfield and

Bowbells.

In 1964, Patsy and Ar-

nold moved to Burlington,

where they started Jost

Cement Company, which

they owned and operated

until 1996, when the com-

pany was sold to their son

Brian. They started farm-

ing in the Burlington area

in the 1980’s until the fall

of 2010. They started trav-

eling south during the

winter months starting in

the late 1970’s until the

present. They owned

winter homes in Salome

and Lake Havasu City,

AZ.

Patsy was a member of

Peace Lutheran Church,

Burlington and an avid

member of the Burlington

Quilters. Patsy and Ar-

nold especially enjoyed

traveling to California and

Arizona, where they at-

tended bluegrass festivals.

Later on they started at-

tending Music Jams in

Salome twice a week.

Patsy loved to spend

time with her children,

grandchildren and attend-ing sporting events sup-

porting her

great-grandchildren. She

enjoyed time with her

family, coffee gatherings

with friends and her la-

dies breakfast group on

Tuesday mornings.

Patsy is survived by:

her husband of nearly 64

years, Arnold Elmer Jost,

Burlington; children: Curt

Allen (Darla) Jost, Bur-

lington, Jacqueline Sue

(Gregg) Blikre, Gillette,

WY and Brian Dale Jost,

Coleharbor; son-in-law:

Larry Huizenga, Burling-

ton; Grandchildren: Cari

(Cory) Olson, Daniel

(Kristi) Jost, Kelly (Lucas)

Blikre- Howell, Shawn

(Katlyn) Huizenga, Sara

Huizenga, Dustin Jost, La-

cey Jost and Jay Jost;

great-grandchildren: Kayli

and Rylan Olson, Gunnar

and Halle Jost, Jack

Howell and Emmett

Huizenga; sisters-in-law:

Birdie O’Brien, Gwen Sau-

vageau, Elda Faye Sol-

berg, Dixie Jost and Don-

na Jost; brother-in-law:

Clarence (Roberta) Jost,

along with numerous

nieces and nephews.

Patsy was preceded in

death by: her parents;

daughter: Rhonda Huizen-

ga; grandson: Marc Blikre;

sisters: Kathleen (Emil)

April 24, 2017 from 3:00

p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in
