June Van Winkle

84, Minot, passed away

on Saturday, April 15,

2017 at Minot Health and

Rehab.

June Marie Erickson

was born July 6, 1933, one

of ten children born to

Emil and Regina (Trottier)

Erickson in St. John,

North Dakota. At a young

age the family moved to

Minot where June worked

at the Main Street Cafe

and would meet Roger

Van Winkle her husband

of 60 years – who would

forevermore affectionately

refer to her as Junie bug.

June and Roger were

united in marriage on No-

vember 2, 1950 at Zion

Lutheran Church in

Minot. June and Roger

made their home in Minot

where they would raise

their five children: Dar-

rell, Dwane, Sana, David

and Dean. In 1965 they

moved to Surrey where

they lived for most of

their lives, returning to

Minot in recent years.

June spent her life rais-

ing her five children and

spending time with her

grandchildren. June loved

flowers and taking care of

her flowerbeds and was

always helping Roger with

his trucking business or

other various adventures.

June taught many of her

granddaughters to dance

and it wasn’t unusual to

see her and Roger dance

in the kitchen.

Throughout life everyone

could always count on

family get togethers dur-

ing the holidays and for

other family events.

June is survived by: her

children, Darrel (Sharon)

Van Winkle, Surrey, ND,

Dwane (Ruby) Van Win-

kle, Burlington ND, Sana

Van Winkle, Jamestown,

ND, David (Tammy) Van

Winkle, Norwich ND and

Dean (Alecia) Van Winkle,

Menoken, ND; 16

grandchildren; 38

great-grandchildren; 1

great-great-grandchild;

and 5 of her sisters.

June was preceded in

death by: her parents,

Emil and Regina; her hus-

band, Roger; and 4 of her

siblings.

Visitation: Will take

place one hour prior to

the service at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot

A Celebration of June’s

Life: will be held on

Wednesday April 19th at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot at 11:00

AM.

Burial: Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot.
