David Foss, 63, from
Minot, ND, formerly of
Tioga and Dickinson, died
Thursday, March 30,
2017, in a Minot hospital.
His funeral service will
be Tuesday, April 4, 2017,
at 11 a.m. at First Luth-
eran Church, Tioga.
Friends may sign a
memorial register Mon-
day, April 3, from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. in Springan Fun-
eral Home, Stanley. There
will not be visitation at
the funeral home or prior
to the service at the
church. A family service
will be Monday, April 3 at
6:30 p.m. at First Luth-
eran Church, Tioga.
David Alan Foss was
born June 4, 1953, in
Williston, to Bennie and
Evelyn (Olson) Foss. Da-
vid grew up on the family
farm south of Ray, ND.
He attended school in Ray
and graduated from Ray
High School in 1970.
After high school, David
attended UND-Williston
and graduated with his
Associate’s Degree. On
July 13, 1974, David was
united in marriage to Dia-
na (Tranby) Foss. From
this union, two children
were born, Nicholas and
Britta.
During his career David
performed many jobs in
many roles. He started
out farming with his fa-
ther and soon went to the
oilfield. He was a valued
employee and enjoyed
working and visiting with
clients. Through this he
formed many life-long
friendships.
David was an avid
sports fan, enjoying
basketball, baseball, soft-
ball and football. He was
a big fan of the Minnesota
Vikings and the Minneso-ta Twins. David was also
involved in softball for
many years and played
through the Old Pros. He
enjoyed taking drives and
listening to music of all
genres. He was always
smiling and loved to
laugh.
He was always famous
for his popcorn. It came
to be known as
“Papacorn” and was al-
ways in high demand,
especially from his grand-
daughters, who adored
their Papa.
David is survived by
his wife of 42 years, Dia-
na, of Minot, ND; son, Ni-
cholas (Alissa) Foss of
Tioga, ND; daughter, Brit-
ta (Travis) Enget of Tioga,
ND; grandchildren, Ash-
lyn Foss and Ansley and
Elena Enget of Tioga, ND;
a beloved part of our fami-
ly, Don, Kristy, Dalton
(Kylie and Harley) and
Dantae Knudson of Tioga,
ND; brother-in-law, Don
Pederson of Ray, ND;
sisters-in-law Marlene
Foss of Ray, ND, Debra
Bahri and Denese (Sid)
Belzer of Minot, ND; as
well as two aunts, one un-
cle, and several nieces
and nephews and cousins.
David was preceded in
death by his father, Ben-
nie; mother, Evelyn;
brothers, Ronald and Ar-
den; sister, Donna Peder-
son; mother-in-law, La-
Donna Tranby; and
father-in-law, Dwayne
Tranby.
