Margaret E. Hodnefield,
94 of Grand Forks former-
ly of Churchs Ferry and
Devils Lake, ND died Sa-
turday, September 24,
2016 at Altru Hospital,
Grand Forks.
Margaret Ellen Stens-
land was born at the Gen-
eral Hospital in Devils
Lake on February 4, 1922
the youngest of five chil-
dren of Albert and Phoebe
(McBride) Stensland. She
attended schools in Web-
ster, Minnewaukan, Gra-
hams Island, Hamlet and
Wheelock, ND graduating
from Wheelock High
School in 1940.
Margaret joined the Na-
tional Youth Administra-
tion where she learned
the necessary skills to
work in a defense plant.
Thus in 1942, she went to
Inglewood, California and
was a riveter with North
American Aviation.
She married Marvin
Hodnefield on February
16, 1948 at Minot, ND and
they established their
home in Churchs Ferry.
In June of 1977, Marvin
retired and they moved to
Devils Lake. Marvin died
on October 16, 1994.
Margaret continued to live
in Devils Lake until 2005
when she moved to Grand
Forks and was in the lov-
ing care of the staff at
Tufte Manor and later
4000 Valley Square.

Karen (Wayne) Schilke,
Rugby, ND, Roger (Susan)
Hodnefield, Grand Forks;
seven grandchildren; nine
great grandchildren; dear
friend Erma Raney, Grand
Forks.
Preceded in death by
her husband and siblings
Agnes Tate, Albert and
Earl Stensland and Betty
Smith.

28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at
Gilbertson Funeral Home,
Devils Lake with visita-
tion on Wednesday from
10:00 a.m. until time of
service.
