Arthur Richter

Arthur Valentine Rich-

ter, 76, Minot, died

Wednesday, June 8, 2016,

on arrival at a Minot hos-

pital.

Art was born June 7,

1940, at Harvey, North

Dakota, the son of Peter

and Ludvina (Kiefer)

Richter. He was raised

and educated at Selz and

Willow City. He enlisted

with the US Navy in 1959

and served his country

until he received his

honorable discharge in

1963.

Art was united in mar-

riage to Rozann Kerzmann

on July 7, 1964, at Garris-

on. The family made their

home in Minot in 1964,

where he became em-

ployed in civil service at

the Minot Air Force Base

in the Heating Plant until

retiring in 1995. During

his 30 years of working at

the base he made many

lifelong friendships that

he treasured dearly.

During his lifetime, car-

pentry was a passion of

Art’s. He was the master-

mind in building many

family projects and

houses for himself and his

children. From his family

he earned the title of

“Boss and Foreman” but

he truly was a “Jack of All

Trades.”

Art was a longtime

member of St. Leo’s

Catholic Church, Minot.

He was also a member of

the Minot VFW Post #753

and Knights of Columbus

organization. He enjoyed

hunting, gardening, fish-

ing, and spending time at

the lake gave him great

joy, but the time spent

with his family and espe-

cially his grandchildren

meant the most to him.

His loving family in-

cludes: wife of 51 years,

Rozann Richter, Minot;

children, Peter (Cheryl)

Richter, Marla (Jeff) Bone-

brake, and Carey (Steph-

en) Walter, all of Minot;

ten grandchildren, Jordyn,

Koral and Reese Richter;

Jack, Thea, Lily and Benn

Bonebrake; Jake, Kelsy

and Joby Walter; sister,

Marlene (John) Deck,

Bismarck, ND; brother-

in-law, Dennis Bender,

Yakima, WA, and several

nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in

death by his parents and

sister, Eunice Bender.
