Michael Brunner, 48, of
Hazen, ND formerly of
Kenmare, ND, passed
away Sunday, March 6,
2016 at Sakakawea Medi-
cal Center, Hazen. Ser-
vices will be held at 10:00
AM CDT on Monday,
March 14, 2016 at Peace
Lutheran Church, Hazen
with Pastor Walt Wolff of-
ficiating. Burial will fol-
low at the North Dakota
Veteran’s Cemetery, Man-
dan, ND.
Michael was born on
May 30, 1967 in Kenmare,
ND to Joe and JoAnn
(Berg) Brunner. He attend-ed grade school in Bur-
lington, ND and graduated
from Kenmare High
School in 1985. Following
high school, Michael en-
tered the U.S. Army in
1986 and served his coun-
try for two years before
being discharged in 1988.
Michael worked various
jobs after his time in the
service, including driving
truck in Washington and
Wyoming before returning
to North Dakota and set-
tling in Hazen, where he
worked for a local farmer
for many years.
Michael greatly enjoyed
hunting and all outdoor
activities. He was also an
animal lover. Above all,
he valued his time spent
with his friends and fami-
ly.
He is survived by: his
mother, JoAnn (Terry)
Peterson of Apache Junc-
tion, AZ; his father, Joe
(Shirley) Brunner of Ken-
mare, ND; one brother, Ja-
son (Brenda) of Grand
Junction, CO; one sister,
Traci (Joel) Kirby of Ash-
land, NE; one step-sister,
Krissy (Andy) Wells of
Bismarck, ND; two
step-brothers, Kirt (Ginny)
Jensen and Mark Jensen,
all of Kenmare; five nieces
and nephews, Chelsie
Girard, Austin Brunner,
Tyler Brunner, Shelby
Brunner and Tegan Kirby;
and many aunts, uncles
and cousins.
Michael was preceded
in death by: his brother,
Brian; his maternal
grandparents, Alvin and
Zola Berg; and his pater-
nal grandparents, Joe and
Carol Brunner.
Arrangements are con-
ducted by Barbot Funeral
Home, Beulah and Hazen.
