Jeanette Varberg

Jeanette D. Varberg, 82,

Minot, formerly of Deer-

ing, died Thursday, July

30, 2015, in a Minot

nursing home.

Jeanette was born Feb.

4, 1933, in Mountrail

County, North Dakota,

near Stanley, the

daughter of Edward and

Lucille (Lee) Allen. She

was raised in Berthold

and graduated from Bert-

hold High School.

Jeanette was united in

marriage to Orvan

“Junior” Varberg on June

17, 1953, in Berthold.

They made their home

on a farm west of Minot

in Harrison Township of

Ward County.

The family moved to a

farm in Margaret Town-

ship near Deering in

1968. Along with raising

their four children,

Jeanette was also em-

ployed in foodservice at

the Moose Lodge and at

North Plains Elementary

School on the Minot Air

Force Base.

Orvan died April 20,

1992. Jeanette moved to

Minot in 2008.

Jeanette was a longtime

member of the Deering

Lutheran Church. She

enjoyed taking trips with

Orvan to Las Vegas.

After retiring, she spent

her winters in Arizona

golfing, singing with the

chorus and being in the

sun at the pool. Her

many hobbies and in-

terests included spend-

ing time with family,

especially the little ones,

canning, gardening and

trips to the casino. She

loved her friends, a good

cup of coffee, crocheting

afghans, “Seinfeld,” and

the Celtics.

and Joy (Gary) Nevrost,

Minot; grandchildren,

Josey (Beth) Varberg, Em-

(Shaun) West, Wendy

(Nate) Burgess, Anna

(Ryan) Skarphol, Nikki

Nevrost; 11

great-grandchildren;

brother, Edward (Von-

nie) Allen, Billings,

Mont.; and several nieces

and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded

in death by: her parents

and husband, Orvan.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Mon-

day, Aug. 3, 2015, in

Bethany Lutheran

Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: noon to 5

p.m. today, Sunday,

Aug. 2, 2015, in Thomas

Family Funeral Home,

Minot.

The family extends ex-

treme gratitude to the

wood Vista, and Dr. Tur-

neau and the radiology

staff at Trinity.
