Julia was born July 23, 1927, in Winding Golf, W.Va., to Wilbur A. and Mattie (Crigger) Quick. She was raised and educated in Franklin, N.J. As a young adult, she was employed in various positions in the New Jersey area.
Julia was united in marriage to Carl Petersen on May 5, 1956, in Warwick, N.Y. They made their home in Garfield, N.J., for two years prior to moving to a farm in Montrose Township of Bottineau County, near Lansford, in 1958.
In addition to her role as a devoted wife and loving mother to her children, Julia was an active member of the Lansford community for many years. She was a member of the Lansford’s Trinity Lutheran and the DAV Auxiliary. She was often found in her garden or tending to her flowers but also she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and making countless cross bookmarkers.
Retirement brought Carl and Julia to Minot in 1993, where they were members of Bread of Life Lutheran Church. Carl passed away on Dec. 26, 2009.
