Leon Goebel

Leon Goebel, 71, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at his home in Des Lacs.

Leon A. Goebel was born March 19, 1943, a son of Martin and Alice (Togstad) Goebel in Minot. He was raised and educated in Des Lacs, where he graduated from Des Lacs High School in 1961.

Following his graduation, he began a lifelong career in farming, first assisting his father with the operations of the family farm, and later worked alongside his brother-in-law George Gathman until their retirement in 2007.

He enjoyed playing golf, watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys, visiting with friends and recently wintering in Glendale, Ariz.

Leon is survived by: brother: Duane (Maryann) Togstad, Midway, Utah; brother-in-law, George Gathman, Des Lacs; nieces and nephews: Lori (Dan) Ruby, Minot, Tony (Michele) Wahus, Des Lacs, Mark (Melissa) Gathman, Minot, Cindy Deaver, Rugby, Monica (Jeff) Meyer, Parshall, Marty (JoAnn) Wahus, Minot, Garrett (Chrissy) Wainscott, Phoenix, Ariz., Shane Togstad, Phoenix, Ariz., Derek Togstad, Phoenix, Ariz., Jordan Togstad, Phoenix, Ariz., Frankie Diguida, Flagstaff, Ariz.; numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Alice Goebel, and sisters, Patricia Gathman and Karen Wahus.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
