Clarence ‘Belle’ Lundeen

Clarence “Belle” Lundeen, 66, Minot, died Monday, September 22, at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Clarence Lyle “Belle” Lundeen was born Dec. 18, 1947, the son of Clarence Lundeen Sr. and Myrtle (Rode) Lundeen, in Devils Lake. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1966.

Following his high school graduation, he joined the North Dakota National Guard as a medic and served for several years.

Belle was once married to Nancy Cole. From this union, a son, Clarence III, was born. He later married Diane Scott. From this union, a son, Troy, was born. They were later divorced.

Belle and Marilyn Burgess were married in 1982, and although this union ended in divorce, they remained constant companions. She was the love of his life.

Belle was blessed with five grandchildren, who were the highlight of his life. He looked forward to every one of their visits.

His father, Clarence Sr., was in the automotive body shop business and Belle and his brothers started their careers working with their father. Each one later owned their own auto body shops. Belle eventually became intrigued by the hospitality business and went on to own several lounges, motels and commercial real estate buildings. Customers would rarely see him without his dog, Bach, by his side.

In his spare time, Belle enjoyed traveling, sailing and spending time on his house boat. He had a great appreciation for contemporary art, and the finer things in life. Belle was truly an original.

He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.

Surviving family includes: sons, Clarence Lundeen III, and his fiancee, Nichole Petras, Minot, and Troy (Kim) Lundeen, Beavercreek, Ohio; special companion, Marilyn Lundeen, Minot; grandchildren, Brock, Canton, Ohio, Blake, Minot, Beau and Baylee, both Alamogordo, N.M., and Brody, Beavercreek, Ohio; brothers, Jerome (Janice) Lundeen, Minot, and Darwin (Myong) Lundeen, Fairbanks, Alaska; sisters, Donna (Elmer) Panasuck, Harrisburg, Pa., and Delilah (Charles) Dintimen-Voss, Picayune, Miss.; aunt, Ruth Schultz, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Madison Scott Lundeen; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral: at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: at 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
