Olga P. Wallace

Olga P. Wallace, 98, Killdeer, formerly of Cando, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2014, at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer.

Olga Pauline Wallace was born on Nov. 23, 1915, the daughter of Ole and Karen (Bjugan) Morseth at Edmore. She grew up and attended school in Edmore. Olga went on to Mayville College where she received her teaching certificate in 1933. In 1938, she completed her teaching standard through correspondence and summer school. Throughout her life, she taught school at Sullivan, Hope, N.D., and West Overland Township. Olga married Robert Wallace on Sept. 24, 1938, at Crookston, Minn. They lived in Overland Township and eventually moved to Sullivan Township. In 1962, they moved to Cando where they operated the Coffee Cup Cafe until 1970. She was then was employed at Style Shop until 1982. In their retirement years, Robert and Olga wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for a few winters before he passed away on April 13, 2007.

Olga was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Edmore and she was an attending member of the Cando Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Cando Sons of Norway.

Olga loved to dance, play bingo, mow grass on a large riding mower and visit with everyone and a good, hot cup of coffee. She loved to watch the Minnesota Twins and also loved to hear about all of the grandchildren.

Survivors include: sons, Charles Wallace, Toledo, Wash., James (Linda), Killdeer, and Robert Joseph “Joe” (Sharla), Kelso, Wash.; daughters, Karen (Roger) Childs, Bellevue, Wash., Carol (John) Weinmann, Mesa, Ariz., Roberta Fensch, Enumclaw, Wash., and Iola (Larry) Kaibel, Drake; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her many friends at both Hill Top and Cando.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ole and Karen Morseth; husband, C. Robert Wallace; son, Roger; brothers, Joe, Leif and Rudolf “Duff” Morseth; and sister, Gertrude Berntson.

Funeral services: will be Saturday, May 31, at 11 a.m. at Cando Lutheran Church with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating.

Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Cando.
