Peter Bachmeier
Peter Bachmeier, 68, Rugby, formerly of Minot, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in a Minot hospital.
Peter was born July 6, 1945, in Rugby, to Peter and Christina (Marquart) Bachmeier, in Rugby. He was reared near Orrin and educated in country school. Following the completion of his education, he assisted on the family farmstead.
Peter was united in marriage to Betty Kuntz on June 13, 1966, at Blumenfeld Church, near Orrin. They made their home on the farm located northwest of Orrin, farming in the area until 1977, when they moved to Newburg.
Peter gained employment at the Newburg Public School and at the Newburg Farmers Union until moving to Minot in 1999. He worked in housekeeping for Trinity Hospital of Minot until his retirement in 2004. The flood of 2011 forced a move to Rugby.
Peter was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Westhope, St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot, and most recently was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork and going for a ride in the countryside.
Peter’s family includes: loving wife of 47 years, Betty Bachmeier, Rugby; children, Melissa (Tony) Barnes, of Kent, Wash., Deanna Murphy, El Paso, Texas, Joseph (Monica) Bachmeier, Minot, Michael (Denice) Bachmeier, Bismarck, and Vickie (Stacy) Sutter, Minot; grandchildren, Jessica Barnes, Jennifer Barnes, Cheyenne Murphy, Logan Sutter, Megan Sutter, Mabry Bachmeier and Ryne Bachmeier; sisters, Marcella Bachmeier, Burlington, Caroline Schmaltz, Velva, Phyllis Lesmeister, Renton, Wash., Cecelia Carrasquillo, Renton, Wash., and Christine (LeRoy) Haman, Devils Lake; brother, Lawrence (Karen) Bachmeier, Granville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Theresa Jones; brothers, Matt, Joe and Christ Bachmeier, and an infant brother, Anton Bachmeier.
Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, March 10, 2014, at 11 a.m., in Little Flower Catholic Church, Rugby
Vigil prayer service: Sunday, March 9, at 7 p.m., at Niewoehner Funeral Home, Rugby.
Interment: Little Flower Catholic Church Cemetery, Rugby.
Visitation: Will be held on Sunday, from 3 to 9 p.m., and Monday, from 8 to 10:30 a.m., at Niewoehner Funeral Home, Rugby. There will be no reviewal at the church.
