Elmer Diedtrich

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Elmer Diedtrich, 85, Williston, formerly of Aberdeen, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, in a Williston hospital.

He was born March 31, 1927, to Jacob and Katie Diedtrich, in Glencross, S.D. After high school graduation, he joined the Navy. The war ended while he was overseas and upon his return to the U.S. he reenlisted and was assigned to Naval Intelligence in Chicago. He served there for two years. He later joined the National Guard. He married Delores Geib on Sept. 1, 1948.

Survivors: wife; son, DeLain, Rosemont, Minn.; daughter, Melanie Krabseth, Alamo; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Gordon.

Funeral: Saturday, 11 a.m., Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. No local services are planned at this time.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
