Suspended sentence imposed for negligent homicide
A Stanley woman charged with negligent homicide after striking a pedestrian in July 2025 has received a suspended five-year sentence in North Central District Court after pleading guilty on Aug. 5. Jean Marie Nelson, 82, Minot, was charged Dec. 29, 2025, with one count of negligent homicide, a Class C felony. District Judge Gary Lee sentenced Nelson to five years with five years suspended and two years supervised probation. She is to pay fees and fines of $125.
