Salvation Army seeks support for food boxes

By MDN STAFF 2 min read

The Salvation Army of Minot is calling on the community to help ensure local families have a traditional holiday meal this Thanksgiving and Christmas.

For many years, a generous donor faithfully provided turkeys and hams for The Salvation Army’s holiday food box program. That donor is no longer able to provide this support, creating a significant need as the organization prepares to serve families facing food insecurity during the holiday season.

Each year, The Salvation Army distributes Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes to individuals and families throughout the Minot area. These boxes provide essential ingredients for holiday meals and help bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those who may be struggling financially.

“During the holidays, no family should have to choose between paying bills and putting a special meal on the table,” said Lieutenant Alisa Carson, Corps officer of The Salvation Army Minot. “We are asking our community partners, local businesses, churches, civic groups and individual donors to help fill this gap so that families can continue to enjoy traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas meals together.”

The Salvation Army is seeking donations of frozen turkeys, hams, monetary contributions designated for holiday food boxes and gift cards to local grocery stores.

Monetary donations allow The Salvation Army to purchase food in bulk and respond to the specific needs of local families. Those interested in donating turkeys, hams, or making a financial contribution are encouraged to contact The Salvation Army Minot.
