BISMARCK - The City of Ray was awarded $268,260 in Community Development Block Grant funds through the North Dakota Department of Commerce to rehabilitate three multifamily housing buildings that are part of the Ray Citizens Housing project. The project will address structural deficiencies, safety hazards and deteriorating interior and exterior building systems.
The commerce department announced the award as part of more than $4.2 million distributed through the CDBG program to six communities across the state.
The program received about $12.5 million dollars in funding requests for fiscal year 2026. Awards were made using a combination of fiscal year 2026 funds and resources from previous years. At the time of publication, not all recipients had formally accepted their awards. Other communities receiving awards were Binford, Elgin, Hague, Jamestown and McVille.
"Strong communities depend on reliable infrastructure, safe housing and access to essential services," said Commerce Community Services Director Maria Effertz. "These investments will help North Dakota communities address critical needs, improve quality of life for residents and build a stronger foundation for the future."
