By MDN STAFF 1 min read

North Dakota State University Extension will offer Ranch Counts & Calculations workshops to help beef producers evaluate herd performance and make informed management decisions using the new NDSU Cow-Calf Record Book tool.

Two workshops are scheduled:

– McHenry County: Thursday, Nov. 5, 1-4 p.m. at Verendrye Electric Cooperative, 615 Hwy. 52 W., Velva.

– Ward County: Tuesday, Nov. 24, 5-8 p.m. at North Central Rural Electric Cooperative, 5400 Hwy. 83 S., Minot.

The workshops are free, but registration is required. Space is limited to 15 participants at each location.

Participants will learn how to set up and use the record book, compare management groups, identify the most productive dams in their herds and visualize herd performance compared with North Dakota and national production averages. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop and herd records, either electronic or handwritten.
