ND Supreme Court justice conducts virtual visit

By MDN STAFF 1 min read

On Thursday, Oct. 15, Justice Mark Friese met virtually with students in Danna Arquisola's Senior Government class at New Town High School to discuss the role and function of the North Dakota Supreme Court.

Students learned how the N.D. Supreme Court differs from the United States Supreme Court, how justices analyze cases using existing case law and the state and federal constitutions, and how state courts interact with law enforcement and the public. Following the presentation, students had the opportunity to ask Friese questions and learn more about the state's highest court.

In addition to welcoming students to the N.D. Supreme Court in Bismarck, the justices visit schools in person and virtually throughout the year to help students better understand the N.D. court system and the role courts play in their communities.
