An excavator scoops up debris Wednesday, Oct. 21, after a house was removed on West Central Avenue between Seventh and Eighth Street. Several buildings are being removed for the future Maple Diversion project that is part of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project. According to the City of Minot, 11 properties needed to be purchased due to design modifications to the project. Purchased houses were offered for sale and salvage before moving ahead with demolition. A townhome, two apartments and three houses have been scheduled for demolition, which started last week and should conclude in a few weeks.
