A water line break has left Glenburn residents under a boil order until repairs can be made and the water is confirmed to be in compliance with drinking water standards.
The city informed residents on Sunday, Oct. 11, to boil water before use because of the possibility that disease-causing organisms may have entered the water supply due to water line breaks that caused a loss of pressure to the distribution system. Repair of the pipeline issue was to be initiated Monday, Oct. 12. Completion time will be determined after examining the scope of the repair.
Glenburn residents temporarily lost water over the weekend, although most had their supplies restored with the exception of the area in the vicinity of line break. The city roughly estimated 10 households remained affected, although the exact number is uncertain.
The city's water tank emptied and was being refilled. Once repairs are made and the system returns to full working order, water samples will be sent to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality. The city reported the boil order will be lifted once water quality is assured.
