The Foundation for Agricultural and Rural Resources Management and Sustainability (FARRMS) has announced announce the return of its free, online Farm Dreams Workshop on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6-9 p.m.
Starting a farm can be both exciting and overwhelming. The FARRMS Farm Dreams Workshop, titled “Dream Start: Planting Your Farm’s Future,” gives participants space to define their motivation, put their farm dream into words, weigh the risks and rewards and learn from experienced North Dakota farmers. This year's featured farmers include Shannon and Jeff Bueche of Turkey Road Farm, Paul Lepp of Beagle Hill Permaculture Farm and Karalyn Pitner of Pitner Provisions. Participants will hear about the successes, challenges and realities of farming and have the chance to ask questions during a live question and answer session.
Those who register will receive a Farm Readiness Assessment and visioning exercise to help them prepare for the workshop. During the session, participants will join a supportive group of aspiring farmers from across North Dakota to explore goals, share ideas and build connections. Following the workshop, participants will receive a comprehensive resource guide filled with information and contacts discussed during the session. Farm Dreams is also a great first step for anyone considering FARRMS' Farm Beginnings course, as it helps participants decide whether they are ready to take the next step toward developing a farm business.
"Every farm starts with a dream, but turning that dream into a plan takes time, honest conversations and the right support," said Jake Callander, farmer educator at FARRMS. "Farm Dreams gives people a place to ask questions, learn from farmers who have been there and leave with a clearer picture of what comes next."
