Central Dispatch to end siren testing

By MDN STAFF 1 min read

Minot Central Dispatch has announced it will stop, beginning Nov. 1, the audible testing conducted on the second and last Monday of every month at 9:30 a.m. for the City of Minot Area Outdoor Warning System as well as the outdoor warning sirens located in the cities throughout Ward County.

This is done as a precautionary measure in preparation for colder weather conditions to protect the internal components of the sirens. Some cities may choose to continue their own audible tests throughout the winter months. These tests are determined through their own set schedules and are not conducted by Minot Central Dispatch.

The last audible test conducted through Minot Central Dispatch is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 26, at 9:30 a.m. The outdoor warning sirens will still be tested and monitored by Minot Central Dispatch on a regular basis using a "silent mode" to ensure they are still operating correctly internally.

Regularly scheduled audible tests conducted by Minot Central Dispatch are expected to resume in May of 2027.

Starting at /week.
