NEW TOWN - The Three Affiliated Tribes' Election Board has announced the certified results of the Tuesday, Sept. 22, primary election for seats on the tribal business council.
Frederick Fox and Darwin Williams were the top vote-getters for the position of chairman and will move on to the general election in November. They received 590 and 550 votes, respectively.
Others running for that seat and their votes were Monica Mayer, 540; Robert Roaming Wolf Sr., 312; Whitney Bell, 294; Stacey Driver, 211; Lloree Dickens, 210; and Vivian Hall, 67.
Mark Fox, current chairman, did not seek reelection.
In the race for Parshall representative, incumbent Mervin Packineau, with 254 votes, was declared elected to that office. Others running for the seat were Delmer Crows Breast Sr., 160 votes, and Iman Moore, eight votes.
In the Twin Buttes representative race, incumbent Cory Spotted Bear, with 197 votes, was elected to that office. Others running for the seat were Shayne Alcon, 134 votes, and Margaret Pfeifer, 12 votes.
According to the tribal Constitution and Bylaws, any candidate receiving a majority of the votes in the primary election is declared elected and does not need to move on to the general election.
In the Four Bears representative race, incumbent Robert White, with 177 votes, and Yvette Young Bear, with 96 votes, were the top vote getters and will advance to the general election. Others running for the seat were Marcus Levings, 94 votes, and Reynold Young Bird Jr., 28 votes.
A defeated candidate or 10 qualified tribal voters who wish to contest an election after the results have been formally certified have three days from the date of certification to file a written complaint with the election board.
