A Bismarck man pleaded guilty in March and was sentenced Aug. 28 in North Central District Court on a charge of gross sexual imposition-victim younger than 15 and defendant at least 22, a Class AA felony.
Ariah Jacob Poorbear was sentenced to 20 years, to first serve 10 years, in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and 10 years supervised probation. He also must complete a domestic violence evaluation, register as a sex offender and pay fines and fees of $1,025.
According to the court affidavit, Poorbear met the victim in downtown Minot in June 2025. He invited the victim to his home in Minot, where he provided multiple alcoholic beverages and engaged in sexual contact.
