Every victim of abuse deserves a voice. Especially children.
Join the Northern Plains Children's Advocacy Center on Oct. 2 as awareness is brought to the 565 children in the northwestern region of North Dakota who were served by the center in 2025 through the Save Jane event. The event starts at 6 p.m. in the Oak Park Amphitheater.
Staff, board members and the public will read the names of the children who were served last year. By doing this, they give each one a voice by saying their name, age and crimes committed against them. To protect their identities, but never their story, the names “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” in place of actual names.
By coming together at the event, children and families see that they are supported, their stories matter and they are not alone. The public’s presence sends a message of hope, healing and solidarity to children who need it most.
"We are here to give these children a voice and honor the children we serve. Stand with us and hear their names. Remember their courage," said Christal Halseth, NPCAC executive director. "This event is a powerful reminder that child abuse isn't someone else's problem. It's something our entire community has a role in preventing. If we don't fight for them, then who will?"
