Rain triggers flood warning

Heavy rain on Thursday morning, Sept. 3, caused a flash flooding warning for west central McHenry and southeast Ward counties.
As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, no damage was reported in the counties of Ward, McHenry, Renville, Bottineau, Pierce or McLean, according to the sheriffs’ offices.
Minor flooding was reported by the sheriff’s office in McHenry County.
At 8 a.m., 0.48-inch of moisture was recorded at the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot, in the past 24-hour period, according to Austin Kraklau, research specialist.
Rugby in Pierce County received 1.05 inches of rain Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Bismarck.
The severe storms were reported in seven eastern counties of North Dakota and 11 counties in northeastern Minnesota as the NWS continued severe thunderstorm warnings until 8 p.m., on Thursday.
As of late Thursday afternoon, NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of north, northwest, south central and southeast North Dakota including the Minot area. The outlook for Thursday afternoon and evening included isolated to scattered thunderstorms with possibility of a few thunderstorms becoming strong with gusty winds and small hail. Locally heavy rainfall also was possible.
Friday, Sept. 4-Wednesday, Sept. 9, the probability of hazardous weather is low, according to NWS.
Additionally a southwestern portion of North Dakota continued under a red flag warnings as of Thursday afternoon.
