WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump has approved North Dakota's request for a presidential major disaster declaration following the severe storms, straight-line winds and tornados that impacted western and central North Dakota from June 7-9, according to North Dakota's congressional delegation.
The declaration approves $3.4 million in disaster costs and makes federal assistance available for recovery efforts in Bottineau, Burke, Divide, McLean, Mercer, Oliver and Williams counties.
Sens. John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak previously sent a letter to President Trump in support of Gov. Kelly Armstrong's request, calling for swift approval of the declaration and access to federal resources for impacted North Dakotans.
