The North Dakota Game and Fish Department, local wildlife clubs and other organizations hosted the 19th annual Outdoor Youth Festival at the Game and Fish Conservation and Outdoor Skills Park on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, Thursday, Sept. 3.
The two-hour evening event featured a variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, archery, waterfowl hunting instruction, a pellet gun range and information on mentored hunts.
Participating booths and organizations included the Crosman portable airgun range, Pheasants for the Future, the North Dakota Tracking Dog Group and local duck hunting groups.
Attendees had the opportunity to win several prizes, such as pellet guns, hunting gear, organization memberships and event sponsorships.
Funding for the event was provided directly by the department, with additional financial support from participating festival organizations.
Greg Gullickson, a department biologist and event coordinator, said local wildlife groups perform valuable work for youth, noting that the festival serves as a central gathering place for these organizations while offering attendees an engaging educational experience.
