MOHALL - St. Jerome's Catholic Church, sponsored by MLS Catholic, will begin an Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) class on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Parish Center.
MLS Catholic includes St. Jerome's in Mohall, St. John's in Lansford, and St. James in Sherwood. The program is open to anyone interested in learning about the Catholic faith and exploring its teachings in a welcoming, nonjudgmental setting.
The OCIA sessions will be led by Father Greg Luger, priest of MLS Catholic.
According to Luger, "Instruction will cover the purpose and meaning of life as revealed by God through the Bible, the historical life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the teachings and sacramental life of the Catholic Church. The program is educational and invitational -- intended to inform, answer questions, and support people wherever they are in their faith journey."
In addition to his priestly duties, Luger has a YouTube Channel together with Father Justin Waltz at @FatherJustinWaltz.
OCIA is open to a wide range of people: those curious about Catholicism who would like to learn more, individuals considering becoming Catholic, people who want to support Catholic family members, Catholics who are practicing and wish to deepen their faith, and Catholics who are not currently practicing and want to reconnect. Everyone is welcome, regardless of religious background or previous church experience.
The first session will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Parish Center next to St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Mohall from 7-8 p.m. and continues weekly through March. There is no cost to attend. Participants may register in advance or simply attend the first session.

It includes formation, instruction, spiritual reflection, and community support leading to participation in the sacraments for those who choose to continue toward full communion.
