A Minot man was sentenced Aug. 28 in North Central District Court to five years incarceration for fleeing a peace officer and reckless endangerment-extreme indifference, both Class C felonies.
Malachi Richard Red Road, 28, must first serve three years with the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with credit for 72 days served, and will be on supervised probation for three years for each charge, which run concurrently. He also must undergo a chemical dependency evaluation and pay fees of $525.
According to the court affidavit, a Highway Patrol Trooper pursued a vehicle traveling southbound at an estimated 75-80 mph in a 35 mph zone on South Broadway at about 9:41 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2025. The vehicle was traveling recklessly in traffic and fleeing a traffic stop. The Trooper discontinued pursuit, notifying the Minot Police Department, which located the vehicle traveling north on 16th Street Southeast, then onto Highway 2 & 52 to 16th Street Southwest to Broadway, traveling at times on the wrong side of the roadway, forcing vehicles out of its way and nearly crashing into vehicles. Police engaged in and terminated various pursuits and identified the driver as Red Road.
At about 11:50 p.m. that night, the Highway Patrol and Minot Police located Red Road at a relative's apartment and placed him under arrest.
