Minot North High School is celebrating Homecoming Monday-Friday, Sept. 21-25, with a week of school spirit, themed activities and traditional events centered around this year's theme: "There's no Place Like North."
The week-long celebration features daily spirit dress-up days, a community parade, a tailgate party, Friday night football at Sentinel Stadium, crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen and the annual student dance.
"As we enter our third year at Minot North, we are continuing to pave our own path and build traditions that our students and community can be proud of," said Minot North High School Homecoming Activities Co-coordinator Nicole Lindgren. "There really is 'no place like North,' and this week gives us the opportunity to celebrate how far our school community has come while bringing everyone together for a week filled with Sentinel spirit."
Students and staff kick off the week with daily dress-up themes beginning with "No Place Like Home" (pajama day) on Monday. Tuesday's theme is "Travel to Oz" (anything but a backpack) theme. On Wednesday, students are encouraged to pick a side with the "Wicked vs. Wonderful" theme and will dress in either black and green or pink and sparkly outfits.
Thursday's theme is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" class colors. Freshman will be Munchkins and wear rainbow colors, sophomores will wear yellow to "follow the yellow brick road", juniors are inspired by Dorothy and Toto and will wear blue, white, and red. Finally, seniors will be dressed as Toga Tornados.
The week concludes with the theme "We're Off to See the Wizard" on Friday, when everyone is encouraged to show their Sentinel pride by wearing navy and silver or their senior jeans.
In addition to daytime dress-up themes, students can participate in evening events throughout the week. The senior class will lead the activities on Monday and Thursday nights. On Tuesday, students are encouraged to fill the stands and cheer on Sentinel sports teams.
Wednesday night's event is "Pepsi, Pizza, and Puzzles" starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Minot North Commons.
According to Minot North information, students have voted on the members of the 2026 Homecoming Court. They are Cooper Chick, Grant Geller, Leon Holzer, Ethan Howey, Levi McCormick, Braxton Thompson, Macey Blake, Allie Chell, Sophie Gathman, Evelyn Jessen, Emma Klabo and Natalie Rose.
The Homecoming Court will be formally recognized at half time of the football game on Friday, where the King and Queen will be crowned based on votes from the student body.
Homecoming day activities begin in the evening of Friday, with the annual parade at 5 p.m. The parade starts at the Optimist Soccer Complex and will travel west on 21st Street Northwest until it turns north on 16th Street Northwest. The parade will continue onto 23rd Avenue Northwest and conclude at Sentinel Stadium. The parade will include the high school and area middle school marching bands, along with floats built by students representing various clubs and activities at Minot North High School.
Immediately following the parade, the Minot North High School Football Boosters Club will host a family-friendly community tailgate. The tailgate will take place in the Sentinel Stadium parking lot, with free food available starting at 6 p.m.
The main event kicks off at 7 p.m. at Sentinel Stadium as the Minot North Sentinels take on St. Mary's Central High School. During halftime, students can participate in a Half Time Kicking Contest.
The week’s festivities conclude with the Homecoming Dance in the Minot North High School Auxiliary Gym, starting 15 minutes after the game ends and running until midnight.
