Minot man sentenced for vehicular injury

A Minot man was sentenced Sept. 3 in North Central District Court to serve at least a year of incarceration for criminal vehicular injury, a Class C felony.

Shawn David Austin was given a three-year sentence, to first serve one year, with credit for 86 days served and earned good time of 11 days, and two years of supervised probation. He is required to participate in a chemical dependency evaluation and abide by a no contact order. He also was assessed $125 in fees and $16,0187 in restitution.

Austin was charged as the driver in a crash in the 600 block of Third Street Southeast, in which a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured, on April 14, 2024.
