Minot High School will celebrate homecoming this week, Sept. 14-18, with themed activities and traditional events centered around this year's theme: "A Night Under the Stars."
Students and staff will kick off the week with daily dress-ups related to the theme. The Homecoming Court will be formally recognized during a pep rally on Thursday, where the king and queen will be crowned based on votes from the student body.
"This is one of my favorite times of the year, because you can feel the excitement throughout the school," said Minot High School Homecoming Activities Coordinator Kali Scigliano. "Seeing our students get involved, dress up, cheer each other on and really embrace the spirit of homecoming is so much fun. We are excited for a great week and cannot wait to celebrate with our students, staff, families, alumni and community."
Homecoming day activities on Friday evening begin with the annual parade at 5:15 p.m. The parade starts at Edison Elementary School and will travel north on Sixth Street, before continuing to 11th Avenue Southwest and concluding at Duane Carlson Field. The parade will include the high school and area middle school marching bands, along with floats built by students representing various clubs and activities at Minot High School.
Families, alumni and community members are invited to join the Minot High School Football Boosters Club for a family-friendly community tailgate sponsored by Chevron. The tailgate will start at 5:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Duane Carlson Field.
Magicians football will take against Fargo Shanley High School at 7 p.m. The celebration concludes with the dance at 9 p.m. in the Minot High School Gym.
