BISMARCK - Andrea Jo Bonness, 56, Mandan, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Daniel Hovland to a felony charge of wire fraud for stealing from a Mandan nonprofit organization while providing accounting services, U.S. Attorney Nicholas W. Chase announced Tuesday, Sept. 15.
According to court documents, between April 1, 2025, and Feb. 24, while employed as an accountant who provided payroll and charitable gaming audit services for nonprofit clients, Bonness fraudulently accessed client bank accounts and transferred about $304,070 to her personal bank account to pay for online gambling.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 14 in Bismarck.
This case was investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan J. O'Konek.
