An $11,000 check for the Wounded Warriors Kids Camp was presented at Marketplace North Friday, Sept. 4. From left are Marketplace individual liquor store managers Donovan Bower, Mitch Sattler, David Kinney, Morelli’s sales manager Jerry Gooch, Marketplace overall liquor stores manager Jami Derheim, Jack Jones of the USA Patriots Board, Marketplace individual liquor store manager Chris Plank and Dakota Brekhus of the USA Patriots Board. The USA Patriots softball team started the camp for parents and their amputee children to learn how to deal with disabilities. It costs $5,000 to send a parent and child to camp, and no one who applies is ever turned down. A program to support sending children to camp was started locally nine years ago by Derheim and Plank. The four Marketplace Liquor Stores, Morelli’s Distributing and Shiner Bock Beer, with the help of Marketplace customers, have raised $124,000 since then. The Aggie Foundation and The Landing Bar and Bottle Shop have contributed another $20,000 over the years.
