WILLISTON - Williston Economic Development (WED) has announced D-BAT, the nation's largest and most recognized baseball and softball training franchise, will open a new location in Williston Square. Founded in 1998 in North Dallas, Texas, D-BAT, which stands for "Developing Beliefs, Attitudes, and Traditions" has more than 170 locations nationwide.
Franchise owner Brooke Mapes, along with co-franchisers Alan Mapes, Tailor Quilling and Huntor Mapes said they look forward to bringing an indoor facility to an important sport in the region, creating a place where athletes of all ages can train during long winters. It also will be a space where the community can come together for birthday parties, date nights, or just a fun night out with friends, they said.
The 27,000-square-foot facility will feature 18,000 square feet dedicated to a pro shop, batting cages - some with pitching machines and others staged for live hitting and instruction - as well as pitching lane cages and several simulators. In addition, 6,000 square feet will be available for lease for a retail or restaurant tenant.
“Williston has long had a strong baseball and softball community, and this development will help us carry that legacy forward,” said Williston Economic Development Director Anna Nelson. “As our city grows, so does the demand for recreation, indoor activity, retail and food and beverage options, and D-BAT fills those needs all under one roof. Recreation isn’t just a pastime; it contributes to the health, education, and quality of life that supports our residents and strengthens our ability to attract talent and grow our business community."
