Two individuals were uninjured in an Amtrak train crash that destroyed their Airstream trailer Friday morning in east Minot, according to the Minot Police Department.

Police responded to the report of a crash at about 8:50 a.m. on the 27th Street Southeast railroad crossing. The two adults in the pickup pulling the trailer, from Rhode Island, were uninjured, police reported. Amtrak came to a stop and was cleared to continue to the train depot.

Police and fire department personnel assisted in the recovery of some personal items from the Airstream. BNSF railroad will oversee the cleanup of the site.

Visit Minot reported it has been assisting the individuals, helping them with hotel accommodations and paying for a portion of their stay while also putting together care packages with essentials lost in the crash.

The Airstream Club International, which is holding a rally at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds that begins Saturday, Aug. 22, released the following statements to members after the incident.

"We are grateful for the first responders and others who have assisted at the scene," the statements read. "ACI President Millie O'Donnell has been in direct communication with the members involved, and the Club continues to do everything we can to support them during this difficult time. We are also working closely with Stephanie Schoenrock of Visit Minot, who has been invaluable in her support of the rally, the Club and the members involved. … We are incredibly grateful for the many members and friends who have reached out asking how they can help. Your kindness and concern mean so much."
