A month-long traffic impact on Broadway is expected to start next week.
According to City of Minot information, the traffic signal will be replaced at the intersection of South Broadway and Second Avenue Southwest.
For the duration of the project, Second Avenue Southwest traffic will not cross Broadway, and Broadway traffic will be reduced to one free flowing lane in each direction.
Traffic control will be set up as early as Monday, Aug. 17. This project will include all four corners. Removal of the existing traffic signal, underground work and new concrete work will occur right away. Time will be allowed for the new foundations to cure before the placement of the new signal standards anticipated in September.
Detours will be in place for city services including police, fire and transit.
Minot City Transit center near this intersection will be open and utilized for transfers. The North Central, West and Southwest routes will travel First Avenue Southwest, Central Avenue and Broadway to rejoin routes on Second Avenue Southwest near Minot Public Library. The project is funded by sales tax infrastructure funds. The old traffic signals will be evaluated for parts to assist with future repairs at other locations
