Three killed in Belcourt crash

BELCOURT - Three individuals were killed and one seriously injured in a crash on the Turtle Mountain Reservation Sunday, Aug. 9, according to the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs.

At about 2:50 a.m., BIA Dispatch received the report of a motor vehicle crash north of Belcourt.

Preliminary reports indicated the driver and sole occupant of one vehicle, a 27-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second vehicle was occupied by three individuals. Two occupants, a 24-year-old female and a 30-year-old male, also were pronounced deceased at the scene. The third occupant, a 22-year-old female, was transported to a local emergency room in critical condition and later transferred to a trauma center in Minot.

Multiple agencies have been involved in the investigation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is serving as the lead agency as the investigation continues.
