SWC approves water projects in region

BISMARCK - The North Dakota State Water Commission (SWC) approved more than $5.9 million in funding for projects including dam support, water supply, and other water infrastructure projects across the state during its Aug. 18 meeting in Bismarck.

Approved projects include:

- Burke County Water Resource District, North Star Dam removal, $185,282.

- Garrison Diversion Conservancy District, MM 10R Irrigation Project, $253,729.

- Underwood, water system improvements, $450,074.

- Western Area Water Supply, R&T Stanley and Little Knife Bay, $646,650.

Gov. Kelly Armstrong and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring voted with the State Water Commission to activate a water supply assistance program for livestock producers as the governor declared a drought disaster for extremely dry conditions across North Dakota.
